Happy No Housework Day!
I’ve often wondered what it would be like not have to do housework. Ever. Again. I always have something else I would rather be doing instead. And clean floors seem so pointless when you have two large dogs and a large backyard. So I can totally relate to Mrs. Rogers who hired a housekeeper back in the 1960’s, 70’s, and 80’s. Her only problem is that she hired Amelia Bedelia.
Amelia Bedelia is the epitome of helpfulness, if only she didn’t take everything literally! If you ask her to dress a turkey for dinner, you’d better be ready to find the turkey dressed in formal attire. If you ask her to dust the furniture, you can bet your best dusting powder will be sprinkled all over your tables and dresser. If you ask her to plant the bulbs in the garden, you can be sure your garden will be the only one in the neighborhood with light bulbs lined up in a row. But just when you think you can’t take any more, Amelia Bedelia will have you begging for more, treats that is… Amelia Bedelia is the best baker in town and you won’t ever want to see her leave!
Peggy Parish, Amelia Bedelia’s creator, would probably love this holiday as much as I do! Good Work, Peggy Parish!
So, for everyone reading this, enjoy your day… and don’t you dare lift a finger!
Hi, Juliana! I pretty much celebrate No Housework Day every day! Your connecting it to Amelia Bedelia is right on the mark!
