Happy Stop Bullying Day!
Bully written and illustrated by Laura Vaccaro Seeger (2013)
Bull insults all his friends calling the chicken ‘chicken’ and the pig ‘pig’. He tells the bee to ‘buzz off’ and the goat to ‘butt out’. But when the little goat calls him ‘bully’ the bull realizes that names hurt. He apologizes to his friends and asks them to play instead.
Chester Raccoon and the Big Bad Bully written by Audrey Penn and illustrated by Barbara L. Gibson (2008)
Chester is afraid to go to school because the badger was a bully. Mrs. Raccoon walks the boys to school and gives them a kiss in their palms. On the way home from school, Chester told his mother all about how the bully mistreated everyone at recess. Mrs. Raccoon asked Chester to gather his friends and meet at their house. When everyone arrived, Mrs. Raccoon told them a story about working together and accepting people for who they are. The next day, the animals went out to recess together. The approached the badger and asked him if he wanted to play with them. The badger was surprised, no one seemed to be afraid of him. He really did want to play with them, and the badger became a friend instead of a bully.
